Evidence, not decoration

Evidence, not decoration

Five engagements follow, each told the way you'd want it in a board pack: the outcome first, then the constraint, then how it was built. If you find your own store somewhere in these pages, that's rather the point.

cld9.ai

A subscription revenue line that runs itself

Recurring revenue became native to the store — subscribe or buy once, same page, same checkout

Core Web Vitals moved from liability to asset after the migration

Search visibility the old platform had been capping quietly opened up

Where it began?

cld9 had built its early growth on Webflow, and Webflow had served honorably. But a subscription business asks questions a marketing platform can't answer: two purchase types living side by side, search performance at scale, a frontend free to evolve. The team knew what they needed; the platform couldn't be it.

What we built?

We moved the store to Shopify and placed a Next.js storefront in front of it, connected through the Storefront API. Shopify holds what it should — inventory, orders, payments — while the frontend belongs entirely to the brand. Shopify's subscription infrastructure carries the recurring side, so subscribing and buying once happen in the same checkout without the customer noticing the machinery.

If your platform is making your business model smaller than it wants to be, the model shouldn't shrink. The platform should change.

Magic Home

A storefront patient enough to sell furniture

Materially faster load times everywhere — above all on the phones where its customers deliberate

A mobile experience built around consideration, not impulse

Architecture with headroom for rental and care-plan subscriptions, no rebuild required

Where it began?

Nobody buys a sofa the way they buy a phone case. Furniture is considered for weeks, examined closely, imagined in a room — and the brand's old storefront was built for none of that: quick to bore, slow to load, in a category where texture and scale decide everything.

What we built?

A Next.js storefront over Shopify, styled with Tailwind and built mobile-first, because that's where this brand's customers actually deliberate. Product pages became places to linger: high-resolution galleries with zoom and full rotation, room-context photography at true scale, and specification sheets treated as first-class content rather than fine print.

If your product is bought slowly, your store should reward slowness. Speed in the code; patience in the design.

Installment Engine

High-ticket hesitation, converted

The customers who paused at the price stopped pausing — high-ticket items found their buyers

Collection runs itself: scheduled, automated, settled bank-to-bank over ACH

The manual work of chasing payments disappeared entirely

Where it began?

The merchant sells expensive things, and a meaningful share of willing customers weren't ready to pay in full on day one. Shopify offers no native answer for flexible installments, and third-party financing wasn't the relationship this brand wanted with its buyers. They wanted to extend the trust themselves — and keep the margin the financier would have taken.

What we built?

A custom application built for exactly this: a Hono and TypeScript backend orchestrating the schedules, Stripe processing payments, Plaid connecting directly to customer bank accounts so installments settle automatically over ACH. Customers manage their own plans through a passwordless dashboard; the merchant sets whatever cadence suits each product.

The customers who hesitate at your price aren't lost. They're waiting for you to meet them halfway — and the meeting can be engineered, on your rails, at your margin.

Picking List Generator

An afternoon's work, returned every day

Manual order transcription became a one-click export — one order or a hundred at once

Transcription errors left the fulfillment process altogether

Published to the Shopify App Store: one merchant's fix became the community's tool

Where it began?

Shopify doesn't generate picking lists. Warehouse teams have absorbed that gap for years — copying orders by hand, introducing errors, losing hours that compound painfully as volume grows. It arrived on our desk as one merchant's frustration. It plainly wasn't only theirs.

What we built?

A public application on Remix with PostgreSQL behind it, drawing order data directly from Shopify's Admin API and producing clean, professionally formatted PDF picking lists — arranged to match how a given warehouse actually moves, in batches as large as the day demands.

The hours your team loses to workarounds are a tax your growth pays quietly, every day. Software forgives that tax — permanently.

RenderEase

Confident buyers, fewer boxes coming back

3D product viewing on any Shopify theme — no theme code touched, on either side

A direct App Store acquisition channel for the RenderEase platform

Shoppers who examine products in three dimensions buy more surely and return less often

Where it began?

RenderEase had genuinely impressive 3D rendering technology and no graceful way onto merchant product pages. Asking every merchant to modify their theme was a non-starter; the integration had to be invisible, universal, and instant — or the technology would stay a demonstration.

What we built?

A public Shopify application built on Theme App Extensions — the mechanism that lets functionality arrive on any theme without altering its code. Merchants manage 3D content through a clean admin dashboard; on the storefront, shoppers rotate, zoom, and examine a product from every angle before committing to it.

Every doubt your customer carries into checkout costs you twice — once in conversion, once in returns. Certainty is the cheapest logistics program ever devised.
